If Khao Lao’s previous locations were closely associated with the image of a traditional Lao and Thai restaurant with a strong sense of nostalgia, the Vincom Phan Van Tri project marks a new chapter for the brand. 91 STUDIO redefined the entire design language to create a younger, more dynamic and approachable identity. The new Khao Lao moves away from its previous warm and traditional image and embraces a contemporary design language that feels more relevant to a new generation of urban diners.

Instead of recreating historical elements, the design draws inspiration from Lao, Thai and Mekong culture through a series of contemporary visual references. The distinctive temple roof silhouette is simplified and incorporated into the brand logo. Traditional folk patterns are transformed into modern vector graphics while Lao script is reinterpreted through contemporary neon signage. This project represents a clear transformation for the brand while preserving its cultural identity. Khaolao now speaks a more contemporary visual language that feels fresh, energetic and relevant to today’s younger diners.
