The Dao Niu Guo space is built around the spirit of a “fresh beef hotpot eatery.” Rather than turning the hotpot experience into a luxurious fine dining concept, the design preserves the lively, familiar atmosphere of long-standing beef hotpot restaurants often found in traditional Chinese neighborhoods. The entire concept focuses on authenticity – authentic materials, authentic operations, and authentic social energy. Raw-textured surfaces, combined with black, burnt red, earthy orange tones, and warm tungsten lighting, create a visually heated atmosphere throughout the restaurant, as if the broth is constantly simmering even before guests take their seats.
One notable detail is the fresh beef slicing station, which is intentionally positioned in an open area within customers’ sightlines. Beyond operational purposes, it becomes part of the “show experience,” allowing diners to directly feel the freshness, the continuous rhythm of preparation, and the vibrant energy of the brand.
Emotionally, Dao Niu Guo does not impress through luxury, but through warmth, liveliness, and a very grounded sense of human connection. It is the kind of space that makes people want to stay longer than expected – because hotpot has never simply been about eating to feel full, but about gathering, sharing conversations, and connecting. And 91 Studio successfully transformed that spirit into a physical experience that can be felt both visually and emotionally.
